Define the question

Explain what you want to understand, the company or market involved and the relevant period. Add context or files that help narrow the investigation.

Ask for original evidence

For company figures, request the original report or investor relations disclosure. For economic data, ask for the original publication. Open citations and check that they support the conclusion.

Ask the agent to distinguish reported facts, calculations, estimates and assumptions. Sources may be incomplete, outdated or inaccessible; ask what could not be verified.

Challenge the interpretation

Ask for competing explanations, contradictory evidence and what would change the assessment. A longer report is not automatically a more reliable report.
